I’m sure you have all seen Poshmark floating around on Pinterest, Facebook, etc. Is it legit? Yes, yes it is.
What is Poshmark? Poshmark is a website where you can sell gently used clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc.
How does it work? You snap a picture of your item, type a short description, set your price, and click share! People can make offers, comment to ask questions, and bundle items (often for a slight discount).
After an item sells, you package it up, print off the prepaid shipping label, drop it in a mailbox, and get paid!
How did I make $800? First, I made sure that I posted 10-20 items at a time. The shipping costs have raised quite a bit since I’ve used Poshmark, so I try to have a variety of options. With multiple items, shipping doesn’t seem quite as harsh.
Second, give accurate descriptions and be honest about any damage. Good reviews mean a lot! Also, a lot of users would prefer to buy something they can see on a person. I take some photos with the items flat and at least one with it on so they can picture what it would look like on them.
Third, be consistent with sharing! Share your posts often so they don’t get lost. Also, it’s a Poshmark courtesy that if someone shares one of your listings, you share theirs also. It’s a win-win.
Fourth, just like any other social platform, I interact with other users! They are more likely to share your listings if they have seen the name before.
Last, list high to leave room for offers and bundles. For example, I’ll post something at $150 when I’d really take $120. This helps the buyer feel like they won a great deal when they offer $130!
Are there any cons? With the shipping increase, it’s a little more difficult to sell lower priced items. I’ve found that jeans, shoes, and bags sell the best for me. Other than having to store your items while you wait for them to sell, I haven’t founds any major cons!
